Job Purpose: Reporting directly to the Lead I&C Engineer and ultimately to the Maintenance Manager, the I&C Engineer will lead a team of technicians and senior technicians to fulfil the day to day I&C maintenance activities at the power and desalination plant. Additionally, the I&C Engineer is responsible to support the management of the major outages of the plant, ensuring that the plant meets availability, reliability, efficiency, generation and cost targets, safely and within strict environmental limits. Key Responsibilities: 1. Support the management of the long term (Siemens) gas turbine service contract with respect to planned and unplanned outage services of gas turbines 2. Develop routine plant maintenance through the use of CMMS. 3. Support successful preparations and completion of planned shutdowns conducted by Siemens 4. Implement I&C engineering best practices in accordance with OEM and international standards 5. Support the development and implementation of a Long Term engineering strategic plan 6. Undertake engineering analysis of faults and propose long-term solutions 7. Undertake or supervise advanced condition monitoring techniques in fields such as: thermography, vibration analysis, oil analysis, etc 8. Support life cycle management for all I&C systems 9. Support completion of planned shutdowns within time and budget 10. Support Operations Department in the safe and efficient delivery of high levels of commercial availability within environment limits 11. Liaise with Operations Dept. in investigation of suspected equipment problems and in appropriate testing of equipment after any repairs before the equipment returns to service 12. Make decisions, or assist others to make decisions, to resolve plant maintenance problems with immediate, medium and long term consequences 13. Lead and motivate colleagues and subordinates by achieving appropriate people and plant related performance measures 14. Deliver outcomes, in all areas of work, consistent with the Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental policies 15. Ensure Company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures are followed. 16. Participate in internal / external Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental audits and monitor relevant findings 17. Help ensure all procedures, documentation, drawings and manuals are kept up to date and necessary training is completed in a timely manner 18. Participate in suitable training programs, both for individual development and engineering competence, and develop knowledge and experience in subordinates 19. Work within budgets for maintenance and provide feedback on expenditure, explaining variances, potential risks and/or problems and recommending solutions 20. Support an environment and mechanism where communication and cooperation between the Maintenance and Operation teams, as well as with Admin Staff, is maintained at excellent levels 21. Continues improvement in the process of work. 22. Any other tasks that may be required.
Core Competencies: 1. Good I&C engineering foundation and practical knowledge of how it applies to modern power plant and desalination plant technologies 2. A thorough understanding of the skills required by Technicians and Senior Technicians to undertake quality maintenance activities. 3. Knowledge of contractual obligations and the need to support Operations Department in achieving availability, output and efficiency targets. 4. Power plant engineering concepts 5. Strong understanding of Quality, Health, Safety and Environment management systems and safety rules. 6. Budget preparation, planning and cost control 7. Instrumentation and Control Engineering or any relevent Engineering degree
