The Head, Academic Support is responsible to provide leadership in the effective coordination, monitoring, supervision, and continuous improvement of student and academic services at the College. Academic Services include: Student Services: Admissions, student counseling, career guidance, student engagement and care; Registration: Student registration system, admissions, assessment, student records, and institutional research focused on facilitating continuous improvement in student success; provides leadership to plan, organize and manage all of the activities related to the Registration Department, including serving as the official authorized keeper of ECAE’s student records. Education: Master’s degree, preferably in a primary duty area of the position Experience: Essential Five years relevant experience in an educational setting in student services, recruitment, admissions, student registration, student records, counseling, student activities, student development, or institutional research. Five years of management experience at progressive levels of responsibility and authority in one or more of the areas listed above Minimum of 8 years in a Student Services environment of which two years are at a managerial level. Proficiency in English and Arabic language (written and verbal). Experience of operating MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) including information retrieval and databases. Knowledge of Student Management System (Power Campus or Banner) Proficiency in English language (oral and written) at an equivalent level to an International English Language Test Score of 6.0. Desirable Experience of the UAE Education Sector. Knowledge of, and experience working in a large multi-dimension organization, preferably a higher education institution
Specific Accountabilities Develop goals and objectives for the successful operation of student and academic services functions at the college level. Direct the management of the student application, registration, and tracking system to include all student data relating to admissions, placement, registration and grades. Develop procedures to improve operations related to student records and registration. Supervise the production of individual schedules for staff and students, including the effective utilization of classrooms, labs and other resources within the college. Supervise the preparation of a student recruitment plan and monitor visits to secondary schools and visits from schools to ECAE. Supervise the processing of student applications and the admission of new students. Supervise the maintenance of attendance procedures. Provide leadership in student involvement in college-wide events and activities. Supervise student extra and co-curricular activities that supplement classroom education. Assist the student councils to help them set and achieve goals. Provide leadership to counseling, career advising, and job placement. Direct the organization of student ceremonies and awards including graduation. Supervise the professional and career development plans for national students and academic services staff.
